Oktoberfest is the biggest beer festival in the entire world! It is even listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest holiday in the world. Tourists come from all over the world for the annual celebration; about 7 million people visit Oktoberfest every year.
This year, Oktoberfest will take place from September 16 to October 4, 2017, as expected in Munich, the capital of Bavaria. This holiday has been held annually for more than a hundred years in a row. In 1810, on October 12, the wedding of Ludwig I and Teresa of Saxony invited everyone from the city and featured free beer and horse racing for the townspeople. The holiday was received very cordially and Ludwig issued a decree to celebrate Oktoberfest annually.
Every year the festivities became more and more massive, carousels were installed, beer stalls appeared, and the world's first chicken fryer was invented. Oktoberfest celebrations were only suspended during the World Wars.
It is impossible to imagine celebrating Oktoberfest without blue and white flags, beautiful girls in aprons with beer, and giant tents with benches for drinking foam. One of these tents can accommodate about 6,000 people.
